Life story of a typical Cockroach
It's important to understand the life cycle of the Cockroach in order to eliminate it effectively.
Cockroaches have three life stages: egg, nymph and adult. The cockroach deposits its eggs into a capsule called an ootheca. This capsule is usually dropped or glued to a surface soon after the female has created it. There is an exception... the German Cockroach, which carries the ootheca until the eggs are ready to hatch. There are typically 30-50 eggs in the ootheca of the German cockroach, but other cockroaches carry only 10-28 eggs.
The newly hatched nymphs have no wings and they shed their skins several times before becoming winged adults. Brownbanded and German cockroaches may have several generations per year, while outdoor species take a year to develop from egg to adult.
